ADHD is often more complex than most people realise. Just like much of an iceberg lies below the surface, many behaviours and difficulties connected to ADHD are not blatantly obvious.
To best support a loved one with ADHD, it helps to develop a broad understanding of the condition — including the challenges with executive functioning that affect many areas of daily life, the differences in brain structure and activity, the ways gender can influence presentation, and the co-occurring conditions that could run alongside ADHD.
Understanding and support from family, friends, educators and employers can make a substantial difference to the quality of life of an individual with ADHD.
